South Bay Sensation 16U Home Page

We're still moving in...

South Bay Sensation is a 16-and-Under girls softball team from the W. Los Angeles/Beach Cities area of California. The primary focus of the team is to further the skill development of El Segundo High School players. However, we also have players from other Los Angeles-area schools to complete the roster.

Right now we are not looking for any new players, but please stay tuned for possible openings...

This is a photo of Sensation after winning the AFA 1999 June Classic in Palm Springs, CA. This pic was taken at about 11:45 PM on the night before most of the girls had final exams!

Players

Jennifer is one of our infielders. She usually plays third, but is a real "utility" player: she plays first and short well, and is fast enough to handle outfield. In a pinch, she's a great catcher, too! Jennifer bats right and throws right

Elizabeth is our principal second-base player. Here she's waiting to catch a drive, and taking a turn at the plate. Liz bats right and throws right.

This is our right-fielder and backup second-base player, Paige, at the plate. Paige bats right and throws right.

Megan is one of the pitchers, and helps out in right field from time to time. She bats (strongly!) right and throws right. Megan plays for La Cañada HS during the spring.

Krista is another El Segundo HS pitcher; she also plays first base. She bats right and throws right.

Keely is the team rocket-ship. She plays center (and LF and RF) and is a bunt/slap specialist. She usually bats left, but can hit from the right with very good power. She throws right.

Here's Kathleen, one of our first-base players, whomping one. Kathleen also catches and has given us a few innings on the mound when needed. She bats left and throws left. (A left-handed catcher? you bet!). Kathleen attends Bishop Montgomery HS.

Jessica is one of our pitchers, and also plays first base. Here she's giving a batter the "stork stare." Jessica throws right, bats right, and was called the "Bunt Queen" when she was a bit shorter.

Jorell, the principal catcher, taking a poke at the ball. Jorell bats right and throws right.

Marissa is another El Segundo HS Varsity pitcher (ya just can't have too many!) who plays outfield when called. She has a tremendous throw to the plate from the deep outfield! Marissa bats right, throws right.

Here are a couple good pictures of Kristin, on of our players from La Cañada HS. Kristin is the principal shortstop. She bats right and throws right.

Lisa is another La Cañada HS player, and, like Jennifer, is a true utility player. She plays third very well, catches, and plays outfield when the need arises. Lisa bats right and throws right.

Merrin is from West HS in Torrance, and plays outfield, primarily left. Merrin bats right and throws right.

Courtney is an outfielder from La Cañada HS. She is another slap/bunt specialist who plays outfield. She's another speed-demon that we're very proud to have on the team. Courtney bats left and throws right.

Coaches

This is the head coach, Keith Cameron, acknowledging his players while holding a 2nd-place trophy from one of the many tournaments the team has played in.

Keith is currently the Varsity Softball coach at El Segundo High School, and has been coaching softball for nearly ten years. In 1992(?) he coached a Sensation 16U team to the ASA California State Championship. He has also coached Varsity Softball at La Cañada High School and Notre Dame Academy in W. Los Angeles.

In addition to coaching teams at the 14U through Women's Open Division, Keith has also worked with a Big League Division (18U) team from the Westchester-Del Rey Little League.

Tiffany is our assistant coach. She came with good credentials - she was the El Segundo Varsity pitcher for a couple years! Being so close in age to the players (Tiffany is currently attending college and playing softball there) she brings a lot of experience to the players in a manner they can relate to very easily.
